Location: Garfield Preparatory Academy (DC Public Schools)

Job Type: Full-time (8:00 am - 3:30 pm M-F)

Salary: $200 /day

Seeking experienced Special Education teacher for long-term substitute position in the Communication and Education Supports (self-contained autism/Applied Behavior Analysis program) at Garfield Preparatory Academy (DC Public Schools). This assignment is available immediately through June 2024. We are enthusiastic to interview candidates who are able to commit to the entire length of this assignment. Job responsibilities include: individualizing and implementing an appropriate educational program for all students based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and aligned with DCPS standards, implementing assessment-driven IEPs, attending meetings, collaborating with teaching assistants, collecting daily data on student performance and behavior, assessing challenging behavior and implementing behavior plans, involvement in weekly collaboration with support staff (BCBAs, school staff, etc.), coordinating inclusion efforts with general education teachers, and regular correspondence and collaboration with parents. We are seeking individuals who are highly proficient at planning for and instructing students across the Autism Spectrum and are enthusiastic about teaching beyond the academic curriculum, successfully teaching communication, social and life skills in a systematic manner.

Requirements:

· 60 credit hours towards an Associate's or Bachelor's degree (at minimum)

· 1-2 years’ experience working with students

· COVID-19 Vaccination

· Ability to pass the DCPS clearance process which includes a background check with fingerprinting and a drug screening

Preferred Characteristics:

· Experience teaching students with autism

· Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis

· Knowledge of VB-MAPP

· Special Education Teaching Certification Strongly Preferred
