Job Description:

Engineer to perform mechanical analysis tasks on general mechanical structures as well as complex electronic packaging in a program team environment. Technical leadership over entire analysis process: material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, testing, documentation, and presentation. Candidate must have 10+ years of experience in the analysis of solder fatigue and electronic components during dynamic and thermal cycling environments for aerospace/military systems. The level of analysis would range from hand calculations to detailed finite element analysis at the electronic component level. The candidate must have the ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplined team environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Primarily perform analysis tasks on complex electronic packaging to determine applicability and survival to a wide range of dynamic and thermal environments.
  • Also perform analysis tasks on complex mechanical hardware including innovative designs for space-based and ground-based systems.
  • Program support includes mission/requirements definition, concept generation, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, component selection, integration and test support, materials selection, analysis documentation and collaboration with manufacturing operations for fabrication in a program team environment.
  • Provide critical feedback to design teams and management to improve program execution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to support design decisions with well-documented engineering analyses and calculations required.
  • Excellent ability to analyze problems and to focus and drive down to the root cause of problems quickly.
  • Experience with Microsoft office tools, Word, Excel, PowerPoint required
  • Experience with finite element analysis software

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with emphasis on using and/or directing finite element analysis (FEA) desired
  • Experience with mechanical and electronic systems in space, air, or ground environments.
  • Proficiency in analysis FEA tools such as NASTRAN or ANSYS.
  • Proficiency in mathematical tools such as Matlab.
  • Proficiency in structural dynamics analysis.
