The Greenville, North Carolina, USA site is a large, multipurpose pharmaceutical development, manufacturing, and packaging campus. The operation provides both development and commercial services for sterile injectables and oral solid dose forms.
Summary:
Leads oversight of all utility and facility maintenance of site operations, including compliance with all local, state and federal laws. Manages, plans, organizes, staffs, and guides your department. Provides documentation to satisfy internal, regulatory, and customer inquiries. Makes sure MRO spares and critical equipment/components are maintained in a high availability state while assuring costs are accurately assigned and controlled.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develops capital and expense departmental budgets. Monitors and controls on a continual basis the expenditures for each budget. Recommends capital investments and expense opportunities for the maintenance budgets.
2. Allocate and lead resources (people, budgets, and equipment) for the unit, site and company objectives. Mentor staff.
3. Ensure all regulatory requirements (domestic and international) are met.
4. Develop strategies and plans for providing overall direction to assigned maintenance programs and systems in compliance with SOP’s, GAP’s, cGMP’s and other. Assign specific tasks to maintenance and supervise progress.
5. We are responsible for the development of an annual strategic investment plan for the site, including associated resource requirements and expense and capital budgets for each business area; in relation to your department.
6. Select, negotiate contracts, and employ external contractors and consultants to assist staff in support of business needs.
7. Responsible for decisions regarding hiring, termination, promotion, and counseling of departmental staff.
8. Ensure employees perform work in compliance with procedures and with the required safety equipment. Support Engineering Safety Committee. Assess customer satisfaction levels.
9. Maintain adequate manufacturing and support facilities to produce the highest quality product in a cost-effective manner. Prepares and submits requests for equipment (major and minor) replacements and additions. Assesses manufacturing capacity and the need to upgrade facilities to meet regulatory requirements and process improvements.
10. Prepares, reviews and approves production records including maintenance procedures, operating procedures, JSA’s, and change requests.
11. Supports independent development, implementation and continuous improvement of major environmental programs such as corporate audit programs, site compliance programs or waste management and/or destruction programs

Job Scope:
You will provide direction and leadership to the utilities & facilities maintenance teams. Engage external customers and collaborate with management positions. Knowledgeable of cGMP’s as related to process, equipment, utility systems, buildings, and facilities. Knowledge of maintenance experience including mechanical, electrical, controls/instrumentation, and utilities. Experience with the design, operation, and maintenance of regulated pharmaceutical processes and equipment, including USP water, USP pure steam, compressed dry air, and nitrogen.

Education:
Bachelor’s in Engineering or related technical degree.
Experience:
10+ years of maintenance of utilities & facilities experience is required, with five to eight+ years of progressive leadership preferred.
Pharmaceutical, Biotechnical, or other regulated experience should exceed five years.
Equivalency:
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and related work experience. 12 to 15+ years of applicable experience may be considered for equivalency

Requires discretion and independent judgment. Very high degree of communication skills (English Language) to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public, including tact to handle critical matters. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
