Effective September 19, 2021, all COH employees, interns, subcontractors, and volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. This includes all staff, whether they are working remotely, hybrid, or in person. To be in compliance, and to be considered fully vaccinated, employees should have received one shot of Johnson & Johnson or two shots of either Pfizer or Moderna, plus, as of March 18, 2022, the appropriate booster, as based on CDC guidance below:

  • Moderna: Eligible for the booster 5 months after completing your Moderna COVID-19 vaccination series, with an additional 30 days to receive your booster allowed for by COH
  • Pfizer: Eligible for the booster 5 months after completing your Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination series, with an additional 30 days to receive your booster allowed for by COH.
  • Johnson & Johnson: Eligible for the booster 2 months after receiving your Johnson & Johnson vaccine, with an additional 30 days to receive your booster allowed for by COH.

Position Summary:
We are seeking individuals that want to give back to their community and are interested in gaining experience in the social services field. As a part-time Resident Monitor, you will be essential staff ensuring the safety of the building, enforcing resident rules, serving as a part of the emergency response team, and communicate with case managers to ensure that clients are receiving the case management services that they need. As a part-time Resident Monitor, you will be an integral part of the success of Community of Hope's Housing Program in the way you provide a culture of hope and transformation as we help people move into their own homes. This is a part-time position that requires a regular 4pm - 12pm shift each Saturday and Sunday. *Salary starts at $16.10 and is based on experience.
Highlighted Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implements and operates COH's program procedures, adhering to all policies and expectations outlines in the Resident Monitor handbook;
  • Maintains security of the building at all times and does not leave post at the end of shift without first ensuring that there are two staff at Girard St. and one staff person at Hope Apartments on duty for the next shift;
  • Answers telephone lines and manages front desk activities including signing-in residents, greeting visitors and volunteers and problem solve with shelter residents, all in a professional, friendly manner;
  • Documents and communicates rule violations and concerns about residents as appropriate to the situation; by email or when necessary by phone to appropriate staff.
  • Respond to residents' requests, rendering assistance as possible; respond to and resolve conflicts and crisis situations;
  • Maintain standardized operating procedures, safety of residents, program integrity, and a supportive and caring environment;
  • Communicate with staff and all residents in a non-judgmental manner; work cooperatively with all agency staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED Required;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively preferred;
  • Punctuality and reliability required;
  • Ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail;
  • Ability to handle emotional situations with compassion and maturity;
  • Ability to remain calm and able during emergencies;
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure required;
  • Ability to write shift and incident reports in detail required;
  • Experience working in a residential environment preferred;
  • Experience working with the homeless population preferred;
  • Ability to de-ice the front walkway by salting and shoveling the front area when inclement weather occurs.
