is looking for a Regulatory & Rates Lead Analyst to join our Regulatory Services & Govt Affairs Team, located in Minneapolis, MN.

You will have the ability to: support activities to help develop and implement regulatory and legislative decarbonization initiatives and processes to achieve CenterPoint Energy’s (CNP’s) strategies, goals, and objectives. Manage compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements and maintain positive relationships with internal clients and external industry participants and governmental bodies. Extensively review analysis and participate in the formulation of law, rules and policy at the state and federal level. Provide work direction to junior professional staff.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Manage support activities for the planning, development and execution of regulatory and legislative decarbonization strategies that support CNP’s corporate strategy, goals, and objectives.
  • Track issues before regulatory and legislative bodies and helps develop documents that convey the Company’s position on issues to elected officials, government bodies and staff, and executive staff when necessary or appropriate.
  • Prepare or assist with preparation of regulatory filings as needed including testimony, schedules, work papers, requests for information and briefs on a timely basis and confirms compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Gather and analyze financial information and operating statistics and their impacts for the development of regulatory or legislative strategies.
  • Monitor and communicate to senior management key developments in regulatory and legislative matters that directly or indirectly impact CNP or its business environment.
  • Represent CNP’s interests in dealings with regional trade, industry, and professional organizations, working closely with other association participants to coordinate industry responses to key regulatory and legislative issues.
  • Establish and maintain communications with members of various other CenterPoint departments.
  • Work with other departments relative to identifying and researching current issues or trends affecting regulatory environments.
  • Attend workshops and conferences to monitor regulatory proceedings to identify trends, issues, or decisions which might affect CNP's regulatory objectives.


Your background includes:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance, journalism, political science or related fields from an accredited college or university.
  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in regulatory or legislative matters and a minimum of two years in regulatory relationships.
