Registered Nurse
Job description
Abraxas Youth and Family Services is a non-profit organization, and a national leader in the operation of residential treatment facilities and community-based programs for troubled youth and their families. We offer a wide array of services to include life skills, mental health services, cognitive behavioral therapy, family counseling, drug and alcohol treatment, case management services, recreational activities, as well as vocational and educational services.
Abraxas I is an open-residential treatment facility with a campus-style setting. The Medical Dept at Abraxas I offers an array of basic healthcare services to the troubled teenagers receiving treatment and education services at this facility. In the event of a serious injury or illness, residents of this facility are transported to urgent care, the ER, or to a specialist. Other services (dental, lab, Nurse Practioner examinations, etc.) are handled by qualified outside contractors.
This environment is a much more relaxed pace than a hospital, urgent care, or even a family practice office. It is comparable in some ways to a School Nurse role. A Registered Nurse who is very experienced and who is looking for a highly rewarding but slower paced role would be a good fit.
