Job Summary

Operates tractor/Trailer combinations in making pickup and deliveries of Austin White Lime, Inc. products to and from customer locations safely and on time.

Essential Functions

Operate diesel powered tractor/trailer combinations both interstate and intrastate, point to point, safely and on time, picking up or delivering freight bearing general classifications, dry bulk, slurry, and packaged. Responsible for loading, unloading, and proper securing of load at all times.

Make inspections of vehicles as required by law and company to insure the vehicles are safe to operate and have adequate levels of fuel, oil, and water. This must be shown on logs as pre-trip.

Secure assigned equipment. The truck should be locked with steering lock (if applicable) in place anytime you are away from the truck. Engine must be off unless weather temperature is below freezing.

Comply with all D.P.S. and D.O.T. regulations rules and Company policies while performing job duties. Obtain required signatures and signing for freight as instructed. This includes all loading and unloading.

Report all accidents and/or spills to supervisor immediately regardless of extent of damages or injury.

Make post-trip inspections at the end of each day on each trip. Make a write up on any and all work necessary for all tractor/trailers. This must be shown on logs as a post trip and/or on Electronic Logging Device (ELD)

Fuel tractor at the end of each trip.

Take care of all equipment, and keep the trucks and trailers clean

Comply with forced dispatch operations. Refusal of a load without prior consent from dispatcher or supervisor will be grounds for dismissal.

Performs all duties safely, taking all reasonable precautions to prevent personal injuries and property damage.

Complies with the Employee Handbook policies and guidelines.

Participates in job and safety training as scheduled by the Company.

Displays an attitude of helpfulness and co-operation to all contacts inside and outside the Company

Ability to back up tractor trailer safely.

Qualifications

Must have a valid Class A Texas Commercial Driver’s License and good driving record; clear record preferred.

Knowledge of and compliance with Department of Transportation and Department of Public Safety.

Logging knowledge and skills; must be able to properly complete D.O.T log and delivery records.

Ability to carry out oral and written directions.

Good communication with customers and fellow employees.

Good math skills.

Must pass D.O.T. written, driving, and physical examination.

Must have 2 years’ current experience as a tractor trailer driver. Five years’ experience is preferred.

Must have 1-year experience hauling a semi-trailer. Experience with pneumatic tanks trailers preferred.

Must have a TWIC card, or agree to get a TWIC card.

Willing to comply with No Beard Policy of customer(s).

Must be able to operate both manual and automatic transmission trucks.

Must have reliable cell phone capable of sending and receiving dispatches and dispatch changes by text and/or by email.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in all areas of the lime plant, and is not limited to; exposure to dusty conditions; exposure to extreme heat due to the lime production process, all weather conditions; noise conditions require precautionary measure; exerts physical effort when walking, climbing stairs, ladders and lifting.
