POSITION SUMMARY

The quality control manager position develops, implements, and manages quality control systems designed to ensure continuous production of advanced materials and applications (consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals). The position supervises a team of quality engineers, quality control inspectors and technicians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Ensure timely and accurate responses to customer requirements. Lead problem solving activities to correct customer issues and complaints relating to quality. Apply total quality management tools/approaches and analyzes data in a way to clearly and efficiently respond to questions or concerns brought forward by the customer.
  • Supervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
  • Able to use data analysis and strong communication skills to support a decision or direction taken.
  • Formulate, document, and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.
  • Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Oversee the creation, documentation and implementation of inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Provide, and oversee, inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.
  • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
  • Interact with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts.
  • Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement teams.
  • Design, develop and implement quality control training programs.
  • Track CONQ metrics for the plant.
  • Responsible for the management and presentation of bi-annual Management Review.

Assumes role as Quality Management Representative under AS9100/ISO9001.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related technical field of study such as manufacturing or engineering.
  • 7-10 years of experience in quality for a manufacturing organization.
  • Certified Quality Inspector and or Lead Auditor, trained in AS9100 or similar system (TS16949) with proven ability to facilitate and navigate quality systems.
  • Ability to communicate proficiently both orally and in writing using the English language.
  • Competencies include customer orientation, analytical thinking, decision making, taking initiative, effective communication, influencing others, organizing, and planning
  • Automotive industry experience a plus
  • Experience directly supporting customer sites a plus
  • Six Sigma preferred
  • ASQ certification preferred
