Job Summary

The Public Relations Assistant will carry out Jackson Lewis’ public relations strategy by assisting in performing various activities and tasks to enhance the perception of the firm’s practice groups, services, attorneys and firm initiatives, resulting in earned media coverage.

The Public Relations Assistant will provide administrative support to the Communications team as needed and report to the Public Relations Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support overall public relations and efforts related to the firm’s Communications department
  • Prepare and distribute reports highlighting media mentions and press coverage
  • Research and update targeted media lists and manage media databases (Cision, Meltwater, etc.)
  • Partner with team members on dissemination of website news stories, daily media coverage report and media mentions database. Assist with website entry as needed.
  • Assist with writing duties as needed for projects focused on media relations and communications

Skills and Educational Requirements:

  • Positive, entrepreneurial, problem-solving attitude
  • 1-2 years of experience in marketing/public relations/communications-related field. Law firm, professional services firm or agency experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field such as marketing, journalism, communications or English
  • Knowledge of AP-style writing and editing
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Superior writing, grammar, editing and proofreading skills
  • Creative thinker who works well in a collaborative team environment and shows sound business judgment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Must be attentive to detail, work well under pressure and able to manage simultaneous deadlines
  • Eagerness to build relationships and collaborate across the broader Business Services teams
