The Program Director will join the Construction Team as the leader of construction efforts for greenfield projects at Enviva. This role will report to the Vice President of Construction, and will be responsible for planning and overseeing development, construction, commissioning, and start-up and integration of projects on time, on budget, and per Enviva specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the project is properly scoped, estimated, planned and executed, delivering on the business case.
  • Ensure the project team is properly staffed and organized and has the support it needs from Enviva’s support functions.
  • Work collaboratively with Development, Enviva support functions and Operations to deliver a complete and accurate Final Investment Decision presentation.
  • Oversee EPC contractor RFP and recommendation
  • Single point of contact with EPC contractor to ensure Enviva and EPC teams work in an integrated, collaborative manner while still maintaining the independence necessary to defend Enviva in disputes.
  • Ensure a safe workplace and job site by adhering to safe work practices and the site-specific safety plan.
  • Serve as a key member of a matrix organization, coordinating closely with various departments and functions across the company.
  • Assembles and organizes an integrated team of engineering, plant operations, and respective cross-disciplinary support teams to work with internal and external stakeholders (including third-party contractors) to develop scopes of work, estimates, schedules, engineered drawings, and other required project specifications.
  • Ensures the project deliverables are aligned with the key performance metrics as outlined in project business case.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal Enviva stakeholders and subcontractors to ensure a consistent understanding and execution of schedule objectives, budget adherence, and work activities.
  • Work with the project leadership team to drive cost and schedule performance and other key performance indicators.
  • Prepare, issue, deliver project progress reports (daily to monthly); provide detailed project progress reports to Executive Staff.
  • Develop opportunities that enhance quality, decrease cost, and/or reduce time to for project life cycle.
  • Develop and lead direct reports to ensure consistency across all projects.
  • Comply with safety, good housekeeping, product quality, and related regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical) or related field with 10+ years dedicated to managing projects over $100 million in the wood and/or power, heavy industrial , and / or oil & oas industries
  • 7-10 years of direct management experience
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable speaking and presenting detailed information in a group setting to executive leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and team leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to learn other applications related to the job
  • Working knowledge of MS Project and P6 highly desirable
  • Unwavering sense of trust, respect, honesty, and integrity
  • Highly detail-oriented and well-organized
  • Must be data-driven and possess a high level of attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications - What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience in managing construction of wood processing or other industrial facilities

Travel requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Working Conditions

  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in heat, rain, and cold. Able to work weekends and evenings as required by the project schedule.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to easily navigate on foot an operating construction site daily, including climbing stairs and scaffolding, walking through uneven and rough terrain, and entering confined spaces (as necessary).
