Job description
The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking qualified applicants to expand its part-time faculty pool in the field of Interdisciplinary Studies. We are particularly interested in instructors who have experience and expertise working between and among the critical humanities and/or who cross traditional academic disciplines in unique and innovative ways. Applicants should speak to their knowledge of interdisciplinarity, generally and specifically in their cover letter.
Applicants should be prepared to teach online, asynchronous courses including INT 208: Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies as well as develop and teach topic courses in their area(s) of expertise. (Some current topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Border Issues, Islam and Women, Feminist Spirituality, Indigenous Religions, History of Human Rights, Transformative Justice, and American History and/or World Civilizations survey courses). Experience teaching non-traditional and first-generation college students is also desirable.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and previous teaching experience and is paid on a credit-hour basis according to the PATFA contract.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching online, asynchronous courses, and/or teaching courses at a distance
- Experience and expertise working between and among the humanities and social sciences and/or crossing traditional academic disciplines in unique and innovative ways
- Experience teaching non-traditional and first-generation college students
- Experience working with diverse student populations and an interest in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives
- Terminal degree or ABD in any interdisciplinary field
