Materials Buyer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Buyer. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing purchase activities in support of the manufacturing of aerospace products. Other key responsibilities will be generating and tracking purchase orders to ensure on-time production schedules are met.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the procurement of material to meet production requirements for on time delivery.
  • Process receiving transactions and material allocation daily.
  • Track incoming material for on-time delivery from vendors.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels to adhere to budgetary guidelines.
  • Develop relationships with all vendors to assure that the company receives quality materials and competitive pricing to meet corporate standards.
  • Negotiate vendor agreements to minimize inventory overages while assuring on-time delivery.
  • Source secondary vendors to ensure product availability.
  • Execute POs in a timely manner based on either MRP signals or non-inventory requirements.
  • Interface with the company MRP system and take the steps necessary to maintain system accuracy.
  • Timely and accurate purchase order entry based on MRP.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve delivery and quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Planning, Design, Facilities, and Programs to ensure their requirements are met.

Relevant Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field OR Minimum 4 years of purchasing or related experience.
  • Master’s degree may offset two (2) years of the experience requirement OR Minimum 6 years of purchasing or related experience.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace or Aviation industry experience.
  • Direct experience with FAR/DFAR and other agency supplements, or other state or local contracting, bidding, and source selection practices.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.

Travel Requirements:

  • Local interoffice travel expected (25 miles one-way) during setup of new facility (in Newbury Park, CA) and shutdown of old facility (in Simi Valley, CA)
  • Occasional local and domestic travel as needed

Employment Criteria:

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Pay: Salary $54,000 to $81,000 DOE
