Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Summary: The position of Maintenance Supervisor reports to the General Manager and is responsible for the efficient and cost effective running of the entire maintenance department. That includes but is not limited to the following.

  • Communicates directly with the plant manager or general manager to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas in the most cost effective manner.
  • Assists with the planning and implementing of plant improvements and expansions.
  • Supervises plant maintenance personnel and insures that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • Creates, maintains and updates operating and training standards for the maintenance department and the maintenance technicians.
  • Monitors the operation of plant equipment and systems. Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintains and repairs maintenance shop equipment as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains tracking systems for work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment to insure maintenance is running in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Responsible for the hiring of maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Initiates and carries out plant equipment projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Tracks, analyzes and improves key maintenance metrics such as asset utilization, maintenance related costs, PM compliance, schedule compliance, uptime percentage, etc.
  • Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures in the maintenance department. Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians.
  • Participate in goal setting, plan development and performance review of maintenance related plant performance.
  • Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
He or she supervises the maintenance department technicians. Candidate is responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years related experience; College degree in Engineering Applied Sciences or Business preferred. The candidate must be competent with Microsoft Excel and Word.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blue prints, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Candidate must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. They must have the ability to write out work orders and corrective action forms and the ability to effectively present information in one- on- one, and small group situations to other employees or supervisors. Ability to communicate and work well with others and create a team oriented environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more, work in confined spaces, and heights 3 ft. and above, and the ability to operate heavy equipment. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
