As a Junior Systems Administrator at Octo, you will provide support for end-users of the Forensic Advantage Laboratory Information Management System. You will assist in configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting Forensic Advantage LIMS as well as fielding related how-to questions. In addition, you will perform monthly functional application and interface testing using existing test cases, as needed new release testing, and ad hoc report testing. You will also draft clear and accurate end-user documentation and standard operating procedures and develop training materials such as quick reference guides.

Program Mission…
The project you will be working is to support the Forensic Advantage Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) at the country’s top forensics laboratory. The LIMS is a key component in our customer’s ability to meet their mission statement of providing user-focused Information Technology solutions and superior customer service in support of the laboratory’s scientific and technical services. In addition to the LIMS support, our team maintains and upgrades the hardware and software needed for the LIMS and the network it resides on, provides recommendations/proof of concepts for modernization or other improvements, and provides insights into the laboratory’s data for key decision making purposes.

- Knowledge of functional testing procedures (performance testing, black box testing, etc) using established test cases, and the ability to draft test cases for new functionality.
- Provide in person or remote application support to end users.
- Can follow established Standard Operating Procedures when providing application support.
- Candidates must have the ability to troubleshoot incidents and requests remotely, either over the phone, via email, or MS Teams.
- Have demonstrated experience using incident logging and ticket tracking systems such as MS Service Center or ADS.
- Ability to write clear and accurate end-user documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Candidates must have demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and remediate application issues.
- Candidates must have experience in developing training materials and provide training to users with various skill levels.
Years of Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience providing Tier 1 end user support and application testing.
Location: Quantico, VA (Hybrid report/onsite schedule is available)
