Inventory Accountant

Hybrid schedule of about 3 days in office/week at our Vernon office.

As Inventory Accountant you will manage inventory accounts reconciliations, financial controls and perform analytical activities creating and maintaining reporting schedules for inventory and products.

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure appropriate inventory valuation and costing of all products in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Assist in Month-end closing, prepares journal entries, inventory & BS account reconciliations and analyze inventory valuation and cost variances
  • Act as liaison and maintain good relationships with internal operating department such as Production, Purchasing, Import/Export, AP, AR, Import/Export IT, and DC Personnel
  • Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count / physical inventories.
  • Reconciliation and balancing of Inventory across multiple sub ledger systems and the WMS.
  • Assist with the preparation of profitability analysis and review of product margins.
  • Prepare ad hoc schedules routinely and as requested for internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Assist with and ensure successful audits
  • Perform variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances.
  • Work in conjunction with supply chain to provide inventory forecasts and actuals comparisons, aging and turns.
  • Ensure that once containers are received physically and systematically by warehouses, they are also input timely and accurately into ERP and the financial system.
  • Create and implement world-class inventory practices and ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Review historical inventory trends and evaluate forecast results.
  • Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.
  • Partner with the technical team on design, testing and implementation of improvements to the ERP inventory system.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in inventory accounting, analysis, control and warehousing operational processes
