Job description
Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in intelligence analysis, or homeland security, counter terrorism or emergency preparedness analysis and assessment in a law enforcement, intelligence, homeland security, emergency management or response organization. A master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
- Instruct transportation hub employees in terrorism awareness.
- Evaluate and comment on homeland security, emergency services, and public safety programs and studies regarding transportation hub safety, security and risk conducted by state and national governments and public/non-profit/private sector organizations.
- Conduct comprehensive research on homeland security, public security, and emergency management trends at the state, federal and international levels, interacting extensively with agency representatives, subject matter experts, advisory services, and legal resources, as relevant. Draft preliminary reports and recommendations based on gathered information.
- Organize, coordinate, and facilitate meetings, work groups and training for diverse consumer populations.
- Promote and publicize the overall and targeted transportation hub safety, security and risk management programs offered by DHSES. Conduct community relations/awareness security programs to a diverse population, develop and prepare materials for distribution.
- Support the development of project plans, deliverables, and analytical analysis for executive review.
- Act as liaison between DHSES and partner agencies in matters relating to DHSES coordinative initiatives; provide guidance and training to stakeholders.
- Manage projects with moderate risk and complexity. Prepare project status reports and communicate progress with stakeholders.
- Represent the agency at conferences, meetings and in program reviews as appropriate.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicle is required.
- Support the emergency functions of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC).
- Other duties as assigned that are in support of the mission or other program areas.
- Approximately 30% travel may be required.
NOTE: Support of operations during times of emergency and disaster from State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state field offices and/or local deployments may be required, which would result in a change and/or increase in working hours, locations and/or duties.
