The South Side Healthy Community Organization (SSHCO) is comprised of 13 healthcare organizations – safety net hospitals, health systems and Federally Qualified Health Centers — on the South Side of Chicago. Supported by generous state funding, the SSHCO aims to build a healthcare system that will prioritize community needs, intervene earlier and respond better. The SSHCO model, driven by community input, will better connect existing health organizations, increase access to care, address some of the most challenging health issues we face, and ultimately, build health equity and ensure stronger, healthier communities across the South Side of Chicago. As an integral partner, UCM will host SSHCO on their Epic Electronic Medical Record. UCM IT will provide SSCHO critical IT tools for Population Health Management, Data Aggregation across participating organizations, and Analytics to meet operational state reporting needs.
Job Summary
In this role, and under general supervision, the Data Integrity Specialist works with customers within the Medical Center and external vendors to implement or upgrade HIM systems. The Data Integrity Specialist must be able to prioritize, organize, and assess work in order to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Have proven ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and requirements. Additionally, must be capable of working well in a team environment and successfully interacting with others at all levels of the organization, including remote teams.
Essential Job Functions
- Develops project plans, timelines, training materials, and policies & procedures
- Assists in reporting and monitoring project progress, including deliverables, resources, and budgets
- Participates in identifying project requirements and priorities
- Assists implementation team, operations managers, and users with the development and implementation of new procedures resulting from new or re-engineered processes
- Provides training, in-service education, and presentations to users/customers within the Medical Center
- Works with vendors, information systems, and users throughout implementation to ensure business requirements are met
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in health information management or health care administration or equivalent education, training, or work experience
- 3-5 years of data integrity experience, specifically with duplicate med record checking and other chart correction functions
- Solid interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to impart knowledge of procedures and techniques
- Ability to educate and train personnel from various levels within the organization (i.e., clerks, coders, manager, and physicians)
- Proven skills in problem solving
- Basic skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Skills with Visio or other flow-charting tool preferred
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credentials with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) preferred
- Epic experience with data integrity worked preferred
