K-5 Interventionist
This position is for the 2023-24 school year.
Location: Dakota (this position is split between Dakota & North Plains)
Job Expectations
An interventionist in Minot Public Schools will implement early intervention strategies to support identified at-risk, general education students at assigned schools. MPS interventionists will be an integral part of closing the gap efforts in Math and Reading during 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.
Interventionists will:
- Work with building Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) teams to advance programming for
- Work with building teams to support the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS).
- Collaborate with Reading Corps and Math Corps tutors for Tier 2 interventions.
- Collaborate to develop and maintain ongoing academic and behavior plans.
- Assess and provide interventions that will be progress monitored frequently.
- Utilize multiple service delivery methods and evidence based interventions.
- Maintain and update the database that identifies students to receive MTSS support and the results of the interventions provided.
- Facilitate goal setting throughout the year for identified students.
- Report progress to parents, school teams, and district teams when appropriate.
- Provide one-on-one and small group supplemental instruction.
- Document instruction and intervention delivery.
- Provide tutorial support for targeted students.
- Support homework completion.
- Participate in ongoing professional development training including monthly targeted collaborative practice.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
Skills Needed
- Classroom experience is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of MTSS and PBIS.
- Demonstrated knowledge of academic and behavioral strategies for struggling students.
- Demonstrated ability to track and analyze student data.
- Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory into instructional
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement lessons based on assessment, and deliver explicit instruction for the specific needs of students.
- Demonstrated ability to speak clearly and concisely in written and oral communication.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be according to the master
agreement between the Minot Public Schools and the Minot Education
Association.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated according to school board policy.
