Controls/Automation Engineer
We are looking for a full-time Controls/Automation Engineer. This position will work under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager. The applicant will be responsible for concept, design, standardization, quality, and customer support of new and existing products.

Job Description:

  • Control panel/system design with good attention to detail
  • Required to design and produce electrical drawing packages, including Diagrams, Schematics, P & ID, Conduit and Wire Schedules, Mechanical Layouts, and Bills of Materials
  • Perform Electrical load calculations including Short Circuit, FLA, MOCP, Arc Flash, Watt Loss and others
  • Manage multiple projects with regard to design, material sourcing, budget constraints, and schedule
  • Understanding of Standards and Code Compliance (UL, NEC, NFPA, CE, CSA)
  • Update, redesign and improvement of existing designs
  • PLC and HMI/OIT programming, design and specification. Our customers dictate the brands of PLC we use so versatility and ability to learn on the fly is required
  • Compile and develop technical project files
  • Ability to communicate & comprehend customer specifications and design to meet their requirements
  • Interface with customers, end users, multiple disciplines for improved product development
  • Technical writing of Installation, Operations, Service Manuals, and Specifications
  • Improvement of quality on a continuous basis
  • Conceptual product design and cost estimating
  • Start-up and Troubleshooting of equipment at customer and end user’s site
  • Provide technical support for customers and regional sales
  • Up to 25% travel required, domestic and internationally. Quite frequently on short notice

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering (BSE) or Similar Focus
  • 3+ years of Engineering experience
  • Experience in Manufacturing Processes
  • Experience in automation industry and the construction of control panels
  • Experience in AutoCad and/or Eplan
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Network application experience a plus
  • Pnuematics and Hydraulics experience a plus
