Iron Recovery and Wellness Center has been providing valuable Substance Use Disorder and Behavioral Health treatment services since 1987. Our Mission: To save lives from the devastation of addiction. IRWC offers various pathways to recovery from substance use disorder and Behavioral Health utilizing three distinct programs. Opioid Treatment Program provides medication assisted treatment with methadone being the most utilized mediation followed by buprenorphine (Suboxone). Utilization of medication is adjunct to psychotherapy provided to our clients by our clinical staff at various levels of care e.g. Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and General Outpatient (GOP). We are also licensed for Behavioral Health outpatient. All of our clients have access to psychiatric and medical services/consultation along with appropriate medication management.


Iron is seeking a BSN for the open Director of Nursing position. The primary purpose of the Director of Nursing is to provide administrative oversight of the facility's nursing services, and where appropriate, directly supervising the facility's nursing staff. He/she is also responsible for the direction, provision and quality of nursing services provided to clients in an opioid treatment program or a facility providing detoxification services and ensuring that the client treatment plan addresses both the client's substance abuse and mental health disorders.

Main duties of the job:

  • The Director of Nursing services shall be responsible for the direction, provision and quality of nursing services provided to clients
  • Providing administrative oversight of the facility's medical services, and where appropriate, directly supervising the facility's nursing staff;
  • In conjunction with the administrator and the governing authority of the program, planning and budgeting for nursing services;
  • Ensuring the coordination and integration of nursing services with other client care services to ensure continuity of care for each client;
  • Proper safe guards of methadone accountability.
  • Assures client compliance with agency policies relating to methadone medication.
  • Works with physician in providing medical services to patients and staff, including physicals, medical consultations, etc.
  • Organizes the Nursing Service Program in accord with standards of the Agency as formulated to adhere to the principles of accreditation prescribed by the Federal Drug Administration.
  • Participates in the improvement of patient care.
  • Coordinate Physicians schedules and activities.
  • Coordinate with Clinical and Special Services as needed.
  • Ensure that the client treatment plan addresses both the client's substance abuse and mental health disorders.
  • The director of nursing services or designee shall be on premises during normal business hours and whenever medications are being administered.
  • Acts as medical liaison with outside agencies

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Licensed by the State of New Jersey as a Registered Nurse
  • Two (2) years in a Registered Nursing capacity
  • Two (2) years in Human Services or related field
  • At least one year of supervisory experience or three years of experience in a substance abuse treatment program or facility
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills
  • Excellent ability to work with clients with substance abuse and mental health disorders
  • Ability to train and evaluate multiple level support staff
  • Excellent writing skills and record keeping skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge of medical conditions, psychiatric conditions, and medications
  • Preferred Education
    • BSN

Additional Qualifications:

  • Computer knowledge of MS Office, and other HR applications is a plus, not required.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proactive, organized, and possess great follow-up skills.
  • Must have the skill/ability to collaborate, partner with, and provide exceptional customer support to a variety of affiliate partners within the organization.
  • Ability to deal with diverse populations
  • Ability to stay within boundaries of the role and function of position
