Job Description
We are seeking a Global Security Executive Protection (EP) Program Director to develop and manage the organization’s Executive Protection program. This includes the development and implementation of policies and procedures, training, and managing a team of Executive Protection security professionals. The EP Program Director will be responsible for working cross-functionally across various stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of the organization’s executives.
The Director should have exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively across business functions (within the Corporate Security Team, Corporate Operations, and Internal/External Stakeholders). The role involves strong strategic and interpersonal and collaboration skills with a strong understanding of operations. The role will also interface with employees and partners across multiple teams within and outside of the company. As the EP Program Director, the individual will be responsible for the management and development of the EP teams for the CEO, and other leaders or employees as necessary. The position requires an individual that has significant problem-solving and analytical skills and can objectively evaluate information and make sound decisions. The individual must be a strong people manager and confidently navigate a complex and changing landscape. This is a newly created, full-time position reporting to Executive Director, Corporate Security & Crisis Management. This position will be based in Gilead’s HQ in Foster City.
Job Location: Foster City, CA – Office Based
Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for defining, developing, and implementing processes and procedures for the EP program
  • Manage, guide, and develop a large team of Security Professionals
  • Ensure that all EP drivers maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all relevant laws and regulations related to driving
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct when presenting to the Executive and their teams and other key stakeholders
  • Work daily in collaboration, coordination, and consultation with Global Security partners
  • Identify and evaluate potential security threats to the organization’s executives and implement appropriate measures to mitigate those threats
  • Foster teamwork and communication across teams
  • Quality management of programs, training, and vendors
  • Domestic & International travel
Minimum Qualification:
  • Basic Qualifications: Education and overall relevant professional experience required includes 16+ yrs with HS Diploma, 14+ yrs with Associate Degree, 12+ yrs exp with a Bachelor's Degree, or 10+ yrs with a Master's or other Advanced Degree.
  • 7-10 + years of experience developing, training, and, managing Security Professionals
  • 10+ years of EP driving experience and a Clean Driving Record
  • Possesses current EP Driving training certification (Evasive driving, medical assistant, etc)
  • Working knowledge and experience of security operations, relevant laws, and regulations related to executive protection
  • Experience in protection strategies, tactics, and technology
  • Leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and teaching
  • Project management skills
  • Experience identifying security issues, customizing, implementing, and executing innovative processes and solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field
  • ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification
  • Industry-accredited Professional Executive Protection Driving Course
  • Industry-accredited Professional Executive Protection Field Agent Course

The salary range for this position is: $199,835.00 - $258,610.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
