We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to serve clients within the Woodbury, Stillwater, Maplewood, and Oakdale areas on a full time or part-time basis.

This Direct Support Professional (DSP) will be responsible for helping individuals with developmental disabilities (ex. Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Asperger Syndrome) on the DD Waiver to increase independence and community integration. In this role, you will work one on one with clients in their own home and in the community to build skills that empower them, as well as help them to engage and integrate within their community.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will be expected to work with clients alongside any family member(s) or guardians present in the home, as well as professionally communicate with a client’s family, guardian(s), or other members of their care team.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

· Assist in scheduling appointments and organizing clients’ calendar

· Support clients in learning specialized skills tailored to meet their goals (i.e. meal prepping & healthy eating, budgeting, appropriate social skills, connecting with others in the community, and health & wellness activities)

· Assist clients in completing paperwork

· Transport clients to activities, appointments, or shopping as needed (gas mileage reimbursement provided with paid driving time)

· Provide instruction for various homemaking skills

Requirements:

· Experience working with children and/or adults with a developmental disability

· Experience with client documentation to meet DHS requirements

· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally

· Must be able to lead and structure client sessions

· Must be willing to drive between client homes on a daily basis (no more than 3 clients per day)

· Must be able to meet clients on a consistent schedule between the hours of 8am and 6pm (late evenings and overnight hours are not available for staffing)

Qualifications:

· High School diploma or equivalent

· Reliable car that is well maintained and suitable for client transportation

· Valid driver’s license and valid car insurance

· Ability to pass a criminal background check

· Ability to pass and maintain required training for DHS compliance such as CPR/First aid and HIPAA

Essential Functions:

· Occasionally move up to 20lbs for various client needs

· Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 75% of the session

· Frequently move within and about the clients’ residence and/or community, including ascending/descending stairs or ladders.

· Have and maintain a valid driver's license

· Frequently, and throughout the session, verbally communicate with clients

· Ability to view clients in-person throughout sessions
