The Design Project Manager works in two primary capacities. First is design-oriented and involves furniture design, space planning, decorative and/or architectural elements and creative construction projects. The other capacity is that of project management and estimating, in which the individual will initiate and oversee the execution of their projects, working in collaboration with the overall team.

The Design Project Manager is responsible for designing, planning, coordinating, and implementing design and fabrication projects from beginning to end, in a fast paced and varied atmosphere.

Project Planning Phase

  • Communicate with team to establish a comprehensive understanding of the scope and desired end result of any given project.
  • Communicate and coordinate with designers/architects, general contractors and other trades, as well as the internal team
  • Identify potential hang-ups, problem spots, or any items needing additional clarification. Collaborate to obtain answers, and/or communicate external designers to obtain answers
  • Obtain necessary measurements, site visits, etc., before builds, as part of the planning process

Build Phase

  • Plan the appropriate and most efficient schedule via collaboration with team
  • Stay attuned to the project timelines and budget
  • Hold brief meetings as needed with project teams for updates, QA, roadblocks, etc
  • Track all communication amongst client and team
  • Identify Change Orders. Communicate those C.Os to Black Hound and client team. Monitor and organize
  • Constantly measure progress to the initial project scope, via coordination with team

Key Qualifications

  • Background in Interior Design, Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Construction Management or Project Management
  • Creative thinker able to develop drawings/details from concept sketches and images
  • Highly proficient at interpreting architectural drawings and construction documents
  • Experience with furniture, fabric and construction specifications
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong proficiency in technology platforms such as Google Suite, Zoom, etc
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of construction and fabrication methods, and different materials and finishes

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
