Our facility is looking for reliable team members to join the Dietary Team as a Cook.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for preparing meals for the residents which meet their individual needs and preparing meals for special events as needed. The cook is responsible for ensuring the quality of prepared food items, the service to residents and the safety and sanitation of the Nutrition Services Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must successfully complete an accredited food handler training course, within 60 days of employment.
- Must have knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygienic methods.
- One year cooking experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Other cooking experiences or successful completion of a cook’s training program (not a class) will be considered.
- Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written instructions in English.
- Must be able to follow recipes and use some basic math.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares all food items on menu according to pre-determined recipes; works with other staff to plan meals.
- Inspect special diet trays to ensure the correct diet is served to the resident.
- Ensure that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established facility policies and procedures.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary working environment at all times.
- Ensure that safety regulations and precautions are followed at all times by personnel.
- Make recommendations to the Dietary Manager regarding needs of the department.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to lift 50 pounds for routine performance of essential functions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
