Rapid City Medical Center is currently seeking a Full-Time Computer Support Specialist to join our IT Department.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Provides user support for computers and peripherals throughout the organization.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for technical issues for the Clinic.
  • Helps maintain records/inventory of all equipment.
  • Assist with user training and provides feedback from users.
  • Repairs broken equipment in a timely fashion and maintains a working relationship with vendors and service providers needed to facilitate repairs.
  • Uses online methods for managing computer repair requests.
  • Maintains working knowledge of all computer related equipment to facilitate troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Performs the following for PCs, networking equipment, and peripherals:
    • On-site installation and configuration.
    • On-site or bench level technical analysis and troubleshooting of:
      • OS reliability and performance
      • Software compatibility
    • On-site or bench level repair as needed for:
      • Hardware
      • Firmware
    • Regular, on-site or bench level systems maintenance, including:
      • Interior equipment cleaning
      • Preventative support
      • Patch management
      • Anti-virus/anti-malware
  • Assists with networking support.
  • Provides support for copier and fax machines.
  • Aids in management of the day-to-day functionality of the telephone system.
  • Attends workshops and training sessions to improve knowledge base.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Able to use equipment and/or materials as specified in this job description.
  • Able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Able to lift articles weighing fifty (50) pounds.
  • Able to work a forty (40) hour work week and overtime when necessary.

EDUCATION: Any two of the following: Degree in information systems, business, or applicable field; Valid enrollment in Information Systems program; Current IT certification such as Security+, A+, etc.; Enrollment in acceptable IT Certification program; Related computer or information systems knowledge.


ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office environment. Work requires hand dexterity for computer keyboarding, the telephone and other office machine operations. Sitting for extended periods of time and must be able to view computer screens for extended periods of time. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and may be interruptive. Must maintain patient and employee confidentiality.


PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Varied activities including sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and to lift 50 pounds. Occasional stress from workload. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including phone, writing instruments, PC, and fax.
