Craft Transfer Program:

BNSF provides a process by which scheduled employees may transfer from one craft to another craft. Employees must be eligible and meet all of the requirements for a craft transfer in order to transfer to another craft. Craft transfers may be restricted due to business necessity.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Personnel Records Specialist

Salary Range: Subject to entry rate of 85% of full rate at $26.71 up to $31.43 (full rate) per hour for Personnel Records Specialist.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding to questions from employees and/or customers.
  • Identifying and implementing solutions.
  • Interpreting information and applying rules and agreements.
  • Initiating and processing correspondence via various communication channels.
  • Maintaining confidential information.
  • Serve as scheduled employee leave of absence administrator and subject matter expert.
  • Serve as a Personnel Records subject matter expert, including providing education to field supervisors.
  • Oversee retirement and resignation transactions.
  • Excellent customer care and focus; ability to assess customers’ needs and provide the correct answer, path, troubleshooting, or method for a positive customer experience.
  • This position will handle high volume of phone calls (approx. 30% of daily workload).
  • Ensure maintenance of electronic and physical employee records. Oversee maintenance and accuracy of scheduled employee discipline records.
  • This position will handle highly confidential and sensitive information requiring a signed confidential acknowledgement.

TYPING REQUIREMENT

  • This position requires successful candidates to take and pass a typing test, arranged through BNSF

  • The minimum net typing rate required for this position is 35 wpm


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Indoor, office environment


SHIFTS/HOURS

  • 40-hour work week

  • Able to work 9:30 am - 6:00 pm shift (Personnel Records Specialist)

  • May be subject to overtime, weeknights, weekends and holidays

  • Railroad operations are 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Shifts are governed by union agreement and subject to seniority.


TRAVEL

  • Minimal


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 18 years of age or will be by the start date listed above
  • Available to report for duty at the designated work location
  • Able to work the above shift/hours

  • Able to meet the above typing requirement

  • Able to read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) English
  • Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Minimum of 1 year of verifiable training and/or work experience in an administrative function within an office environment
  • Able to handle multiple projects and duties simultaneously, accurately input data into computer systems and sit for long periods of time
  • Basic level skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, and Power Point) and have used it in school and/or at work
  • Ability to answer the phone, listen actively, relay information, and type basic information simultaneously
  • Minimum of 1 year of verifiable training and/or work experience resolving internal and/or external customer issues via telephone and/or email correspondence
