Summer@GUS – Seasonal Camp Nurse/Health Service Director
Description: Summer@GUS is seeking a registered RN, EMT, or NP who will be responsible for the daily health and safety of children, including ensuring a child builds positive and meaningful relationships with others while enjoying camp activities.
Summer@GUS operates on our 23 acre campus.
Qualifications: We seek caring, high energy, dedicated staff who have the ability to work in a diverse environment, lead guided discovery, and deliver programming that supports the development of strong character, confidence, creativity, and a sense of community in children 3.5 to 13 years of age.
The Camp Nurse/ Health Service Director must be at least 18 years of age and have experience working in
Health Services. Current Nurse Practitioners, School Nurses, EMT’s are encouraged to apply.
Compensation: Starting rate of $27-$30 per hour Depending on Experience
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Staff must commit to working all 7 full weeks to SUMMER@GUS
● Staff must commit to attending two weekly staff meetings on Monday and Wednesday at 8:00am
● Season Camp Nurse must attend and participate in a comprehensive staff orientation before camp begins to embrace the SUMMER@GUS core program and values and build a cohesive staff team who work in the best interest of the campers at all times. Orientation includes health and safety protocols, risk management, behavior management, intentional program design, emergency procedures, use of resources, care of equipment, and overall knowledge of camp procedures.
● A background check, including a Massachusetts CORI, SORI, National Sex Offender Public
Registry, and fingerprinting, is required.
● The Camp Nurse helps campers stay safe and healthy so they can have a fun summer experience
● On a regular day you will distribute medications to campers, communicate medication paperwork to families and the camp director, as well as review and communicate physical and immunization records according to Department of Public Health Camp Regulations
● Tend to injuries that may happen throughout the day and keep accurate records and reports
● Organize, maintain and utilize adequate resources for serving the health and medical needs of the campers and staff, distributing first aid materials as needed
