Domtar is seeking a Buyer to join the Purchasing and Logistics Department at the Marlboro Mill in Bennettsville, SC where approximately 750 tons of fine white paper and 350 tons of market pulp are produced daily.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Purchasing and Logistics Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the procurement of materials, equipment and contracted services to support operations and maintenance activities for the Marlboro Mill.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports day-to-day needs of maintenance and operations teams on procurement of parts and services.
- Collaborates with maintenance, operations and purchasing team to develop and distribute RFP’s to qualified suppliers. Interviews suppliers. Publishes specs for bids and evaluates bid responses.
- Processes transactions, including storeroom reorders and resolves invoice issues.
- Verifies history of supplier service and determines the supplier’s ability to meet contract specifications.
Required Qualifications / Experience
- Two (2) or more years’ experience in manufacturing purchasing.
- Knowledge of supply chain/materials management and procurement principles.
- Knowledge of commercial terms and relevant business law.
- Experience with SAP or other business enterprise software application.
- Experience in negotiating, preparing and administering contracts / agreements.
- Knowledge of relevant accounting functions that apply to purchasing, strong analytical skills.
- Industrial maintenance knowledge / experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- Possess or able/willing to get Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).
- Experience in fiber-based product environment.
