ASSOCIATE MARRIAGE FAMILY THERAPIST (AMFT) JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: AMFT

Reports To: Clinical Manager

Position Summary

AMFT treats residents with psychological disorders, behavioral problems, substance abuse, or addictions that affect their marriages or family dynamics. You will also maintain resident’s records, create treatment plans, help set goals, and oversee residents complete therapy programs. Collaboration with Program Manager, Registered Nurse (RN) and Mental Health Workers (MHW).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facility Monitoring and Staff Support

● Collaborative oversight of program

● Oversight of environment of care, treatment schedule and logistics related to any outside appointments

● Assist residents with family support if appropriate

● Ensuring staff support in the planning of daily operations

● Review round records daily

● Audit communication log entries daily and report any concerns to Treatment Team

● Monitor medication storage

● Monitor resident requests or feedback and all related recording or communication

● Ensure HIPPA compliance in every aspect of facility operations and resident care

● Respond immediately to crises, collaborating with the Treatment Team

● Ensure facility is clean, safe and in compliance with Community Care Licensing regulations

● Maintain the integrity of the grounds and any property of Belamante HS LLC

● Participates in Clinical staff meetings

● Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions

● Supervision of any intern or associate clinical staff

Direct Service

● Make appropriate referrals for residents to other services

● Assists in the coordination, communication, and implementation of resident discharge plan

● Provide effective crisis intervention

● Teach independent living skills effectively

● Utilize individualized approach to resident services

● Make arrangements for residents to attend available community programs, when residents have the need, identified by the treatment plan, which cannot be met by the program.

● Perform and document group, family, and individual therapy sessions.

Training and Monitoring

● Train staff in charting requirements

● Verify that all charts, program documentation, medication management, incident reports and other forms/reports are completed in conjunction with the Administrator according to the following criteria:

o Timely (within 24 hours of provided service)

o Objectively (behavioral observations are recorded accurately)

o Thoroughly

o Legibly

o Correctly follow procedures

● Complete at least 20 hours of continuing education per year in areas relating to mental health and the care of the mentally ill, and/or administration.

● Perform required training and shadowing of New Hires where appropriate or required

● Follows all agency and program safety rules

● Follows universal precautions

● Follow program’s procedures on vehicle and property maintenance

● Utilizes creative and flexible approaches to accomplish tasks

● Utilizes customer service approach with residents, family members and community members

Qualifications

As per the Department of Health Care Services, the AMFT of a Short-Term Crisis Residential Treatment Program in a Social Rehabilitation Facility shall have the following qualifications prior to employment:

a. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Master's Degree in Psychology, Minimum 1 year work experience in field.

b. One (1) year full-time work experience in a community program that serves residents who have a mental illness.

c. Direct supervision of services to residents, with one (1) year in a position of supervising direct care staff.

● Attainment of at least 18 years of age.

● Knowledge: Understands tenants of psychosocial rehabilitation, counseling theory and ability to interpret regulatory requirements.

● Special Skills: Demonstrated ability to work as a team player. Excellent communication skills both oral and written.

● Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and personal automobile insurance. Hiring is contingent upon receiving DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance, a submission of a signed Criminal Record Statement (LIC 508), a TB test, and clearance on an employment physical. Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred prior to employment.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $58,240.00 - $66,560.00 per year
