Position Summary

For thirty years, Nestlé Purina has been proud to call St. Joseph, MO home to two facilities, a wet pet food factory and our Product Technology Center (PTC) dedicated to research and development. The PTC is home to dogs and cats who help us learn, research, and better understand the well-being of pets all while enjoying the best quality of life. As an Associate Technician, Animal Care, you’ll be responsible for organizing and performing the necessary work related to the care, palatability, and nutritional testing of pets under general supervision. Knowledge and compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and all procedures and protocols in the Nestlé Purina R&D Petcare Manual will be your strong suit as you work through your role within your team.   • Knowledge of and compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and all procedures and protocols in the Nestlé Purina R&D Petcare Manual
  • Adherence to Nestlé Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Perform all necessary cleaning and sanitation duties
  • Daily feeding of the pets not on trials
  • Perform grooming
  • Obtain animal body weights and body condition scoring as required
  • Accurate and reliable data entry
  • Provide socialization programs for pets
  • Report to the veterinary staff sick animals or unusual behavior observed
  • Maintain a safe, clean and sanitary work environment and practice safety in the workplace


Requirements
  • High School Diploma (or GED); with minimum 6 months of animal handling experience OR bachelor’s degree in animal science, zoology, or related field
  • Able and willing to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently
