SUMMARY:
The MPRB is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director of Asset Management to assist in overseeing the Park Maintenance Operations work unit and the Fleet Services work unit. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of maintenance services for all MPRB neighborhood and regional parks and MPRB fleet management. Work involves establishing, planning and implementing MPRB’s level of service standards for park maintenance to deliver exceptional experiences for park users.
Employee will be eligible to request a teleworking arrangement (up to two days per week of remote work) after 6 months of continuous regular employment and a satisfactory performance record.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Responsible for assisting the Director of Asset Management, as needed, in the overall management of the Asset Management Department.
- Responsible for strategic leadership and management of the Park Maintenance Operations work unit, and Fleet Services work unit including effective planning and administrative work that fully support the current and future needs of the MPRB and are compatible with the Park Board’s mission and in compliance with all regulatory bodies.
- Lead and work closely with team of Park Operations Managers to create a cohesive team and ensure standardization of programs and processes across maintenance service areas within the Asset Management Department.
- Responsible for management, administration, and coordination of the Park Maintenance Operations work unit in the repair, preventative maintenance and ongoing operation of all parks and park assets meeting all federal, state and local regulations. This includes timely and effective maintenance operations, utilizing MPRB maintenance standards and industry best practices.
- Responsible for management, administration and coordination of the Fleet Services unit in the purchase, repair, preventative maintenance, disposition, and ongoing operation of the MPRB fleet of mobile equipment meeting all federal, state and local regulations.
- Manages the implementation and oversight of the MPRB’s enterprise asset management system within the Park Maintenance Operations work unit and Fleet Services work unit.
- Assist the Director of Asset Management in managing and monitoring performance metrics in coordination with the Park Project and Systems work unit and recommend service delivery adjustments based on performance results.
- Responsible for the planning, development and oversight of seasonal operational practices for the Park Maintenance Operations and Fleet Services work units and work closely with Park Operations Managers to ensure such practices meet established service levels throughout the park system.
- Responsible for working with the Director of Asset Management, Fleet Services Manager and others in the Asset Management Department and throughout the MPRB in development and implementation of a strategic equipment operating and replacement plan to provide for long term financial sustainability of the Equipment Fund.
- Under the guidance of the Director, responsible for preparing, recommending and administering the Park Maintenance Operations and Fleet Services work units' budgets.
- Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, develop and discipline subordinate full-time and seasonal employees for development of a professional and support staff with a high degree of competence and sound judgment within both non-represented and represented work groups.
- Work is conducted primarily in an office setting; position involves traveling to and from various sites, checking in on staff and park operations and frequent attendance at meetings including many that may be conducted during the evening or on weekends, and irregular hours as necessary to meet deadlines and achieve objectives.
- Develop and implement services and programs that result in equitable distribution of resources across the MPRB system of parks.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Park and Recreation, Facility Management or closely related field. (Master's degree preferred.)
Increasingly responsible experience in park operations and management: at least five (5) years
Increasingly responsible experience in leadership, management and administration: at least five (5) years
Increasingly responsible experience supervising others: at least five (5) years
Valid driver's license
OR
Associate's degree with a major in Business Administration, Park and Recreation, Facility Management or closely related field

Increasingly responsible experience supervising others: at least five (5) years
