Job Summary

Job ID: 221910
Position # 40010999

The Division of Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, to join our eight (8) member Surgeon group.

Augusta University is a thriving integrated academic medical center with a Level 1 Trauma Center. We average 3000 trauma activations, 1800 trauma admissions and 1200 General Surgery operations per year. We have an 18% penetrating trauma volume. We have a vibrant surgical residency, advance practice providers and two surgical critical care fellows per year.

We are looking for Trauma/Acute Care Surgeons who would be a good fit for our team, who wish to work hard in a supportive environment, and develop an academic career. We cover Trauma, the Trauma and Surgical Intensive care units (the latter shared with Anesthesia), Emergency General Surgery, as well as Elective General Surgery cases at Augusta State Medical Prison. We are particularly interested in candidates interested in building an elective general surgical practice, which can be facilitated by an ambulatory surgery center.

Augusta University`s main campus is in Augusta, Georgia’s second-largest city. Augusta is on the banks of the Savannah River and is within an easy two and a half-hour drive of Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, Savannah, multiple beaches in Georgia and South Carolina (including the famous Hilton Head) as well as the Smokey and Blue Ridge mountains. It is a growing and thriving city with a metropolitan-area population of around 450,000, a mild pleasant climate (annual mean temperature of 64 degrees) a low cost of living and a wealth of recreational opportunities. The city was recently ranked the second most favorable place to live in the state. Although best known for the Masters Golf tournament, it offers much more, including eleven golf courses, performances by the Augusta Symphony, Augusta Ballet, Augusta Opera and the Augusta Players, to the Augusta Invitational Rowing Regatta and the National Barrel Horse Association’s World Championships.

We offer a competitive salary, negotiable depending on experience, and an excellent fringe benefits package.

Conditions of Employment

All candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review. For specific positions, the final candidate may be subject to a (pre-employment) physical, drug screen, and/or credit check.

The final candidate will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
