GLENWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CLASSIFIED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: THRIVE Associate

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Essential Function: Depends on specific position.

Reports To: Student Service Director, THRIVE program teachers and support staff

Consults With: Student Service Director, THRIVE program teachers and support staff

Position Goal: To assist the teacher in maintaining developmentally appropriate classroom activities and learning environment so that children with all needs may learn effectively and reach their maximum potential.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Attends work regularly.
• Demonstrates respect for and sensitivity to the needs of all students
• Develops effective working relationships with students and their parents, staff, and the school community.
• Attends training/inservice opportunities as required.
• Keeps information related to individual students and families confidential.
• Communicates effectively with THRIVE staff and students through email.
• Maintains records and data through online programing.
• Performs errands and tasks for the THRIVE students and program.
• Under supervision of the teacher, works with individuals or small groups to work on lessons initially introduced by online courses and material or by THRIVE teachers.
• Accompanies the student(s) as needed when trips to the office or to the school nurse are necessary.
• Establishes a supportive and sympathetic relationship with the student(s) without fostering or encouraging intense emotional involvement.
• Maintains a valid driver’s license and passes the district driver’s background check.
• Sanitizes classrooms and equipment using approved materials and methods.
• Assists teachers in maintaining discipline and follows through on prescribed behavioral management programs.

Terms of Employment: Days students are in school. Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one exists.
