Responsibilities

Base Salary Range: $81,000 - $150,000
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience.

AML Analysts within the TMG review cases of potentially suspicious activity generated via the Bank’s automated transaction monitoring system; waives or investigates the cases; and escalates cases to the TMG Manager, when appropriate, for possible SAR filing.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as the first level reviewer in making initial investigation decisions on corresponding banking BSA cases as well as determining the specific information needed to manage the investigation.

  • Manage a queue of cases, ensuring timely follow up of requests and adherence to escalation procedures.

  • Prepare and participate in various training sessions provided to front office, operations, ITEC, and SG global teams.

  • Assist the TMG with analysis to optimize processes for improving correspondent banking monitoring.

  • Assist other members of AML Compliance with ad hoc analysis and investigation requests.

  • Perform analysis and duties pursuant to obligations under the USA PATRIOT Act (Sections 314(a) and 314(b) requests).

  • Conduct targeted account reviews on high risk correspondent banking clients and analyze from a holistic view of customers in terms of products, services, and underlying transactions as well as escalate potential issues.

  • Prepare SAR Committee summary narratives, present cases to the SAR Committee, and prepare SAR filings.

  • Know and understand the laws applicable to money laundering, including the BSA, the USA PATRIOT Act, US Treasury AML guidelines, SARs, and other requirements.

  • Review and analyze AML current trends and news in order to identify high risk areas, counterparties or keywords to incorporate into monitoring filters, rules, or profiles.

  • Possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills and be able to multi-task, adhering to specific quality and productivity guidelines

  • Strong research skills, advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and experience with online research systems including web-based tools

  • Knowledge of multi-cultural situations and languages with the ability to apply them efficiently to the AML surveillance field

  • Prior AML Surveillance and/or Investigation experience preferred.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Société Générale’s US Financial Crime department is responsible for ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering (“AML”), Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC and sanctions regulations for the US operations. The department performs, among other responsibilities, AML transaction monitoring and SAR filing, OFAC screening, as well as advisory and control functions across SG US bank and broker dealer businesses. The department is also responsible for the management of the tools used for sanctions screening and AML transaction monitoring.

The Transaction Monitoring Group (“TMG”) manages the rules and parameters used in the Bank’s and Broker Dealer’s automated transaction monitoring system, reviews alerts generated by the system, and conducts investigations for potential SAR filings. TMG also conducts Targeted Account Reviews of certain foreign correspondent bank customers and provides targeted training to SGUS employees on AML industry developments and red flags. TMG also files Suspicious Activity Reports (“SARs”) with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (“FinCEN”) when necessary, and is responsible for complying with Section 314 of the USA PATRIOT Act.
