Job Summary The Youth Support Specialist is responsible for providing safe and nurturing environment, for children and youth between the ages of 12-18. This position will provide one-on-one as well as group support for all guests in addition to a daily schedule of activities. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities • Welcome children entering the facility upon entry and admission • Provides care, support, attention, and a positive, therapeutic atmosphere to all children in the department to which assigned. Maintain consistent, firm, and fair relationships with all children Serves as an appropriate, positive role-model • Provides physical and emotional security for the children through intervention, correction, and re-direction of negative behavior when: Behavior is damaging to self; Behavior is damaging to others Behavior may result in damage to property • Assists with managing the physical needs of the children including health, hygiene, and physical comfort (food/clothing/shelter) • Always maintains an active interest in and an awareness of the whereabouts and activities of each assigned child while on duty • Assists with maintaining an approach/program that follows the individual care plan.

Assists with maintaining agency philosophy, policies • Serves as an integral member of the treatment team • Provides formal and informal reports on behavior, attitude, and general disposition of assigned children, including: Incident Reports, restraint remediation sheets, time-out reports Department logs Behavior Rating Scales Primary sheets • Attends conferences and meetings • Participates in the planning, supervision, and provision of therapeutic and recreational activities • Transports children as necessary including, but not limited to medical appointments, activities, school • Assists with maintaining current inventory and/or awareness of all supplies, equipment, and furnishings Reports repairs as necessary • Assists with household duties • Attend training to meet licensing requirements • Understand that the agency reserves the right to mandate overtime as needed to ensure the safety, supervision, and care of the residents in treatment Other Job Duties & Responsibilities • Other duties as assigned • Attends conferences, meetings and/or committees including supervisory sessions, general staff meetings, trainings, department and treatment plan meetings, evaluations, and triage/psychiatric /medical treatment conferences • Assists with providing transportation of clients, as needed Job Qualifications Education, Training, and/or Experience: • High school diploma or GED and (3) years of childcare experience working with children or youth in a residential environment (RTS I); or • Associates Degree and (2) years of childcare experience working with children or youth in a residential environment (RTS I) • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
