Overview
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Merced County is offering an exciting opportunity for the right
person to join our dynamic team. Our mission is to enable all young people, especially
those who need us most, to be a productive, caring, and responsible individuals. The Club
is looking for a fun part-time Youth Development Professional.
Description:

We rely on the dedication of caring employees to provide a safe, nurturing environment for
kids to learn and grow. Under direct supervision, the YDP ensures a high level of participation in safe,
positive youth development programs and school intersession camps. The Youth Development
Professional (YDP) is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of programs and
activities offered to the members of the Club, including indoor and outdoor programs that focus on
academic achievement, healthy lifestyles and good character and citizenship, and performs related work
and maintenance as required.
Essential Functions:
Candidates will have assist with planning and implementing appropriate
programs, activities, services, and special events.
Track, plan, promote and encourage program participation and be responsible for creating innovating programs and activities.
Classroom management of a group of children to ensure quality programs, prepare youth
for success, promote safety of members and provide quality in programs at all times.
Establish objectives that are consistent with organizational goals and mission ● Maintain and properly
use equipment, supplies and tools ● Maintain a safe and educational environment for all children ● Assist in
maintaining cleanliness of the facility ● Support and maintain programs that serve our priority
outcomes ● Implement the day-to-day activities in accordance with established standards and
goals ● Participate in meetings related to various programs and activities and inform Site Supervisor of
progress and/or changes to programs and goals ● Create and maintain a culture of inclusion and respect
in all activities
● Manage and enforce discipline policies and provide effective guidance, immediately report all
incidents to Site Supervisor ● Manage record keeping and reporting, as it relates to assigned program ●
Attend mandatory staff meetings and training ● Participate in special events and programs ● Experience working with a
youth development organization ● Experience working and mentoring youth ● Ability to motivate and
teach youth ● Supervise youth and maintain a safe environment ● Excellent planning and organizational
skills ● Ability to organize and conduct programs for youth ● Familiarity with the principles of youth
development ● Ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities and groups ● Ability to define outcomes and work towards positive outcomes ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills ● Ability to multitask and be flexible ● Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Working Conditions: Working indoors in a busy and occasionally

noisy environment There may be a number of activities and situations happening at once May
experience smells associated with toileting and children who are ill May come in contact with children
who are ill and/or contagious and must take precautions to ensure health and safety of all children,
parents, staff and themselves.

Ability to occasionally work in hot and cold environments, including
outside Changes: This job description will be updated if duties and responsibilities change significantly.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
Experience in working with children.
Knowledge of youth development.
Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior.
Work with the general public.
Plan and implement quality programs for youth.
