Remanufacturing company located in Bessemer City, NC (just north of Gastonia) is hiring to fill a key position within our company. We remanufacture heavy duty hydraulic lifting equipment for the public transit and public works sectors and are adding to our core team to serve these industries. Air conditioned shop, great benefits and competitive pay.

The ideal profile will have the following skills:

* Prior fabrication and assembly including welding experience.
* Ability to read and understand blueprints including decimal notation and weld symbols.
* Ability to accurately lay out weldments and tack weld before welding.
* Ability to MIG weld carbon steel up to 1 1/4 thick with weld beads up to 3/8".
*Ability to finish grind to a level surface without imperfections or gouges
* Experience using manual machining equipment (band saws, grinders, drill presses, sanders).
* Ability to operate a forklift and gantry crane. This is heavy equipment and requires some rigging experience.
*Ability to lay out to print, drill and tap without issues.
* Experience working with measuring instruments (e.g. rulers, calipers, micrometers).
* Ability to perform basic math calculations.
* Self-directed and self-motivated. This is a fast paced position that requires a get it done attitude.
* Prior fabrication industry, auto body work / truck or heavy equipment mechanic experience is a plus!
* We remanufacture equipment to better than new condition, so attention to detail is a must.
* Clean, well lit, air conditioned / heated workshop.
* Some minor travel required.

This is not a 9-5 desk job. The work involves restoration of heavy equipment.

A forklift test and weld test will be required before a hiring decision can be made.
