This individual will perform complex and varied tasks requiring independent knowledge, its application to a variety of situations, such as well as the use of independent judgment. This is administrative/supervisory/hands-on work of a broad nature and includes the supervision of all nursing staff on the assigned unit. The employee reports directly to the Director of Nursing.

Essential Functions
- Makes walking rounds between shifts and units whenever necessary to supervise and monitor work performance in terms of resident care, staff regulations and efficiency of services
- Provides assistance and guidance to nursing staff in administering new procedures
- Maintains professional status with physicians
- Responds to all emergency situations within the facility
- Encourages open discussions with residents and residents families
- Counsels employees and initiates disciplinary action as necessary
- Provides assistance and guidance to other members of interdisciplinary team in developing resident care plans
- Promotes rehabilitation nursing on the units
- Performs physical and psychological nursing assessments on residents when necessary
- Encourages open communication between nursing staff on all shifts
- Promotes cooperative relationships with other departments
- Reports all unusual circumstances that may involve the safety and well-being of the residents and staff directly to the DNS
- Demonstrates leadership ability and management skills through fair decision making, dependability and reasonable expectations
- Serves as a role model for nursing employees
Marginal Tasks/Duties
- May initiate transfer of residents within the facility or to another facility and/or Hospital as required, when directed by the DNS, Social Service and Admissions directive, or in when a resident/patient may be in need of specific medical attention
- Coordinates all Staffing concerns in regards to call-outs
- In the absence of the Receptionists, will answer all in-coming calls to the facility
- Responsible for Admissions and Discharges
- Follow up on All Admission paperwork to be completed over the weekend
- Follow up on All Incident Paperwork to be completed over the weekend
- Take a 30-minute meal break (the meal break is a required guideline of the work force labor board)
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
- Valid NH License
- Minimum of five years of experience in Nursing
- Successful completion of a Rehabilitation Nursing Program, Preferred
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
