Job description
Correctional Industries (CI) within the Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for a permanent Warehouse Operator 2 (WO2) position. This position is located at Airway Heights Corrections Center in Airway Heights, WA.

Correctional Industries is committed to maintain and expand incarcerated work training programs which develop marketable skills, instill and promote positive work ethics, and reduce the tax burden of corrections. This position supports that objective by assisting in training and supervising incarcerated individuals in the day-to-day operations of the Correctional Industries Centralized Commissary operation. This position assists with maintaining security and control over incarcerated individuals working in the operation and assists in providing skills training to incarcerated workers in accordance with CI Legislative mandate.
Supervises incarcerated individuals and participates in the warehousing operations of a large volume warehouse in the functions of loading and unloading vehicles
- Opens, packs, unpacks and inspects incoming and outgoing shipments and relocates warehouse commodities as needed. Practices good inventory control procedures, record maintenance, receiving, storing and distributing goods and services.
- Enter merchandise into TAS inventory system, fills incarcerated individuals Commissary orders, investigates reported errors with the incarcerated individuals orders and make corrections when warranted. Provides timely delivery of orders to each living unit. Charge and/or credit incarcerated individuals accounts in TAS for their Commissary orders.
- Ensures shipments received are correct and in good condition. Ensure outgoing shipments are properly packaged
- Participates in the maintenance, arrangements and cleanliness of the warehouse facility and equipment. Assists in the planning and effective use of space and equipment. Conducts required inventories.
- Follow established policies and procedures while training incarcerated in warehouse commissary operations as well as safe operation of equipment and safe storage practices.
- Plans and assigns the work for the incarcerated.
- Maintains custody and control over assigned incarcerated workers as required by policy.
- Initiates procurement documents and submits to supervisor for review and final approval. Performs other tasks as required.

Required:
- High school Graduation or GED equivalent.
- 2 years of warehouse experience.
- One year of experience in training warehouse workers in process or inventory.
- Experience working with incarcerated or in a correctional facility.
- Knowledge of commissary/warehouse systems.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check.
- Successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service and other required training.
- Provide physical residential address and home telephone number to the Department of Corrections.
- Become familiar and comply with all DOC policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable.
- Submit to drug testing in accordance with CBA and agency policy.
- This position is included in a Union Shop.
- Must successfully complete CORE training program.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
