Job description

The VP of Procurement is responsible for leading procurement efforts for a food manufacturing company (ingredients and packaging procurement required). The VP will work with business units to lead centralized procurement efforts. This will include working with the internal stakeholders from initial need identification to final goods or service delivery. Specifically this role will be responsible for the following: raw materials, commodities, packaging, and supplies required for the manufacture of finished food products

Duties & Responsibilities

Development of organizational procurement strategy and plans

Creation and management of short, mid, and long term goals and objectives

Development of benchmarks and metrics including a routine scorecards to set baseline standards and review for improvement opportunities

Closely link Procurement performance with business needs

Creation and ongoing value creation of a strong supply base

Lead the recruiting, hiring, training, developing, coaching, motivating, mentoring, upskilling, and succession planning for all personnel within the Procurement Group. Oversee directly or indirectly all personnel who make purchase decisions for the company. Establish departmental objectives/metrics, monitor results, and assess the performance of all key personnel.

Skills required

Broad procurement and global commodity market experience

Sound knowledge base of commodity market dynamics, and purchasing derivatives e.g. forward contracts, futures, spot pricing, swaps, collars

Excellent negotiating skills

Strong analytical skills

Demonstrated ability to formulate a strategic vision

Solid financial acumen able to manage a full P & L
