Description

The Department of Religion at Simpson College invites applications for a visiting full-time (six courses per year) position in Theolog to begin Fall 2023 tobeginning on or about August 20, 2023.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

PhD in Religion or Theology required; ABD considered. Methodology and area of research expertise within Christian Theology is open, however preparation to teach across confessional differences is expected and ability to teach in conversation with other religious traditions is welcome. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching and demonstrated teaching excellence is an asset.

The candidate should be prepared to teach two sections of REL 102 Introduction to Christianity, and three other courses, the nature of which will depend in part upon their strengths.

Preferred Qualifications:

Interest in working with the college chaplain to mentor pre-seminary or ministry-track students.
Ability to teach Introduction to Interdisciplinary Social Justice Studies.
Proven ability to engage the interests of non-majors in general education courses.
Teaching competency in womanist & feminist theology, theology & disability, religion & the environment, social ethics, or postcolonial thought.
Experience in mentoring undergraduate research.
