Summary
Virginia Commonwealth University’s Virginia Center on Aging invites candidates to apply for the position of Project Manager. The Project Manager will manage operations for Virginia HEAR, an externally funded project that seeks to mitigate challenges and barriers to reporting elder abuse via educational programming and the development of a web-based “Safety Connector” for use by practitioners, older adults, and caregivers who seek to link themselves or others to systems of care.
Typical Duties
The project manager will complete the following essential duties and responsibilities:
- Aid the Project Director and Co-Directors in completing day-to-day managerial tasks
- Coordinate development and production of the video-based intervention
- Coordinate, schedule, and manage pilot testing of the intervention
- Coordinate, schedule, and manage the community implementations of the interventions
- Collect evaluation data
- Manage the online marketing campaigns
- Project coordination and management, curriculum development
- Ensure policy and legal compliance
- Manage multimedia communications
- Recruit and organizing training sessions
- Recruit and providing oversight of those in consultant and sub-awardee roles
- Responsible for directing and managing strategic portions of Virginia HEAR
- Establish and oversee administrative procedures to meet grant goals and objectives
- Evaluate the work of staff and consultants to ensure that programs are of appropriate quality and that resources are used effectively
- Prepare and maintain records and reports, such as budgets, personnel records, or training manuals
- Responsible for policy and legal compliance, administering budgets, multimedia communication, and operational activities
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders and sponsors
- Work under intermittent supervision, resolving routine issues independently
- Provide a measurable impact within the department and influence service delivery in the school, department, or business unit
- Collect evaluation data from trainings
- Evaluate web-based tool and track usage
Please note that occasional travel will be required with this position.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent written and verbal professional communication skills
- Relationship building skills
- Ability to motivate others
- Ability to direct projects
- Excellent computer skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
- Ability to exercise good judgment in making administrative decisions with minimum supervision, using independent critical thinking and problem solving skills to anticipate and meet the needs of departments
- High level of organization and time management skills
- Willing to collaborate with all team members to build consensus, inform improvements, incorporate stakeholder feedback, and adapt to changing requirements
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks based on competing deadlines and needsHighly motivated and proactive

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s in gerontology, social work, or other health-related field
- 3-5 years experience managing projects, working with older adults, or within the aging services network
- Creative, critical, and solution-based thinking skills
- Knowledge of intimate partner violence and other forms of elder mistreatment
- Knowledge of aging issues and the effects of domestic violence, family violence, and sexual assault on older adults, especially women in the second half of life
- Comprehension of sponsored project progress reporting
- Knowledge of educational instruction including active learning
