Position Summary:
The Value Stream Manager provides leadership and direction for the value stream. The Value Stream Manager is directly responsible for the value stream’s performance with respect to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth. The Value Stream Manager is the architect for the Strategy Deployment Process and Operational Excellence improvement for their respective value streams.
Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):
- Owns the entire value stream. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to effective leadership of the materials, operations, quality, and operational excellence segments of the value stream.
- Effectively manages materials, quality, operations, and operational excellence functions to ensure all SQDC and strategic business objectives are achieved.
- Maintain/upgrade intellectual capital by developing existing employees and attracting qualified employees. Establish performance objectives and development plans for Supervisors and other direct reporting personnel through the Intellectual Capital review process.
- Has direct management responsibility for value stream supervisors in assigned area including employee relations, hiring, training, team building, performance management, and professional development.
- Drive compliance and continuous improvements for the safety of our employees, and the work they perform.
- Establish, sustain and improve the quality controls across the entire value stream. Collaborate with supply chain to drive improvements in supplier quality. Deploy process controls within the facility to produce product that exceeds customer expectations. Establish a formal process with customers for addressing defective products discovered in the field. Across all of this, utilize structured problem solving methods combined with effective communications.
- Lead improvements in OTD to reach 97% towards delivery commitments that meet business model lead-times.
- Establish targets & execute on goals for productivity in people costs, material costs and other areas of opportunity for cost reduction.
- Engage with Supply Chain to refine material replenishment systems to meet both business model lead-times and achieve our goals for inventory turns.
- Works closely and effectively with appropriate Business Line Manager(s) to ensure effective execution of value stream business model necessary to gain market share on a year over year basis.
- Utilize the Crane Business System tools to develop and implement a future state for the value stream. Lead by example in deploying the CBS tools towards the business problems in the value stream.
- Drive the action plans for any SDP strategic priorities identified. Develop robust 3 in 1’s for KPI’s that fall off track, executing effective countermeasures as required.
- Actively engage in the New Product Development (NPD) for the value stream. Ensure work performed to prepare the Operations areas for the new products meets all expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical degree preferred - Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment, preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of machining, fabrication and assembly operations.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple efforts with strong results/goal orientation.
- Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking; ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to take the initiative being action oriented and driving for results. Must be flexible and have a willingness to work within changing priorities.
- Must have strong business and financial acumen.
- Must be able to work and influence across functions in a matrixed organization.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and prior experience working with MRP systems.
- Organized, self-motivated with ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of production scheduling and enterprise MRP systems.
- Background in ISO 9001 or related standards preferred.
