Role Summary
As a UI/UX Designer you’ll be working closely integrated with the CARIAD UX & Customer Value team in Santa Clara on the global cross-brand UI/HMI specifications for Audi, Porsche, VW & Scout. Our focus is defining the UI/UX aspects that are uniquely American or need to be adapted to meet the needs of our North American drivers & passengers. You’ll be collaborating closely with other UI/UX Designers in both the US & Germany to ensure that our Android-based Infotainment systems are usable, accessible, and enjoyable for our customers in North America. The work is focused on designing cross-brand user experiences & UI-flows that are abstracted from the brand-specific visual styles and display configurations
The ideal candidate will have solid UX architecture, wireframing and interaction design background, having worked on infotainment and in-car screens for automotive, and will be motivated by a strong human-centered design foundation and a passion for research.
Role Responsibilities:
· Works closely with inter-disciplinary component teams in Germany to define HMI specs according to per-project requirements. Working with HMI specifications & wireframes in a variety of formats (Figma, AXURE, Visio), analyzes them and extends them with NAR specific interaction flows, in close alignment with brands, PM, and other stakeholders
· Supports the definition & management of North America specific UI/UX requirements and aligns them across multiple brands in the region
· Conducts both user & desk research to determine and advocate for the needs of North American customers
· Close collaboration with customer satisfaction teams in the region (e.g., quality teams, JD Power). Considers production development timelines, technical restrictions and budgets in the solution finding
· Presents designs, concepts, project/progress reports and presentations to top management, mentors, partners, and project affiliates
· Creates and manages bug/improvement tickets and follows-up to verify the implementation
Qualifications
Years of Experience
· 5-7 years
Education Required
· Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Bachelor’s in Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Interaction Design, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or a wide range of related fields. Master’s preferred.

UX/UI Tools:
· Experience with Figma, Axure, Visio and other UI design tools
· Ability to design and conceptualize user experience concepts using customer journey maps, wireframing, sketching, flowcharts and other UX methodologies
· Experienced in working with JIRA or similar ticket based systems
Automotive UX/UI Design Expertise:
· Detailed understanding of existing interaction patterns and design systems in automotive and consumer electronics
· Detailed knowledge of specific usability issues and human factors issues around vehicle interfaces (e.g. usability of speech or navigation systems, driver distraction)
· Experience working closely with UX researchers in the context of consumer electronics or automotive product development
Human-centered Design Methods:
· Systematically and collaboratively ensure that interactions, experiences & principles are grounded in research and refined based on the real needs of diverse users
· Focus on customer orientation
Desired Skills:
· Experience supporting all stages of the user-centered product development process with UX testing, from early stage ideation (i.e. generative UX testing) to evaluative testing of late stage implementation or products in market
Work Flexibility
· Occasional early morning video calls to align with stakeholders and development teams in Germany
· Occasional domestic & international business travel may be required to support usability studies and planning/integration workshops with our suppliers and development partners

Pay: $104,039.00 - $114,321.00 per year
