Position Title: Transportation Helper

Department: Facilities & Transportation

Reports To: Fleet Manager

Evaluated By: Fleet Manager

Responsibilities:

• Works under the supervision of the Fleet Manager.
• Assists Fleet Manager in performing repairs, and routine and preventive maintenance.
• Maintains a high level of safety standards at all times while performing the responsibilities of the position.
• Promptly reports any abuse of buses and/or equipment to the Fleet Manager.
• Responsible for inventories of assigned tools and equipment.
• Maintains work area in a safe, clean, and orderly condition; maintains equipment and tools in a safe and proper working condition; notifies appropriate personnel of unsafe working conditions.
• Completes work orders and maintains records of time worked and materials used.
• Serves as a substitute bus driver.
• Assists with emergency road service to disabled buses. Drives replacement bus to site and calls for wrecker service, when needed.
• Fuels all school vehicles.
• Washes all school vehicles.
• Attends appropriate workshops and training programs as assigned by the Fleet Manager or the Director of Operations.
• Perform all other duties pertaining to the daily operation and maintenance of the Gentry School District Transportation Department as assigned by the Fleet Manager or the Director of Operations.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned
satisfactorily.

Education & Experience: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.

employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the functions of this job, the
employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel,
crouch, or crawl, talk or hear; occasionally required to sit, climb or balance. The ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid Arkansas Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s license with Air Brake, Passenger, and School
Bus endorsements is required upon employment and must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
