KEY FUNCTIONS:
¨ Works within the Request for Quotation (RFQ) Process during the initial stages of quoting new projects/parts. Works with other functional areas of company to support this activity.
¨ Provides technical consultation and support services to customers and Sales Team to help facilitate completion of quotes going to our customers.
¨ Collaborates with Tooling Engineering, Metallurgy, Quality Control, Operations, and Industrial Engineering to determine the best process(s) for producing at quality casting at a competitive price.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
¨ Leads Collaboration with customers to support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) related topics associated with providing quality, cost-effective casting.
¨ Possess a basic understanding of foundry and design cost drivers.
¨ Utilizing various CAD Systems (3D & 2D) to determine feasibility of casting design.
¨ Utilizing ERP System to support the quote process (Odyssey ERP)
¨ Support initiatives for replacement tooling
¨ Support initiatives for cost and quality improvements
¨ All other related job assignments as directed.
EXPECTATIONS:
¨ Facilitates a lead role in preparation of quotes for casting and tooling costs geared towards getting a quote to end customer within expected lead times.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
Knowledge
- Must possess a high level of knowledge relative to the technical requirements to produce gray iron castings. Must have a solid working understanding of part features including Parting Lines and Cored features.
- Must possess a high level of understanding relative to company's manufacturing capabilities and competitive advantages in the competitive marketplace.
- Must possess a high level of understanding relative to pattern equipment design and function as well as layout setups, techniques and measuring tools.
- Must possess a basic understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer principles as well as a working knowledge of metallurgy as it relates to cast iron flow and shrinkage.
Skills
- Must possess an ability to read and understand blueprints, GD&T
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency in CAD to view 3D models, modify and create 2D drawings.
- Must possess the ability to calculate estimated product weights.
- Must possess good communication skills, including the ability to transmit and receive technical ideas and information.
- Must be organized and can plan and prioritize multiple projects.
- Must possess problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to effectively resolve customer complaints within defined parameters.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education:
- Associate degree or equivalent technical training in basic engineering principles.
Experience:
- Prefer a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the casting industry or a related field. Preferred candidate with experience in working with customers in an area of technical service functions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
