Thermal Engineer

Sceye’s High-Altitude Platforms (HAPS) are designed for long-endurance missions and will be used to bring broadband and cell service to rural areas and conduct earth observation missions including wildfire and pollution monitoring. We are seeking an experienced Thermal Engineer to join our team to design, analyze, create, integrate, and maintain thermal systems within the HAPS and create thermal modeling processes. This position reports to the Design Engineering Manager. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience ($94,231 - $134,836).

What You Will Do

• Develop and implement Thermal and CFD simulations to predict fluid flow, heat transfer, and other related phenomena to support the High-Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) development.
• Conduct CFD and thermal analysis to optimize designs and improve the performance and reliability of HAPS sub-systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate CFD simulations into the design process.
• Stay current with advances in Thermal engineering technology and techniques for HAPS or similar applications.
• Perform hand/spreadsheet calculations for quick turn-around in results, where applicable or needed.
• Write technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.

What You Need

• Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and other relevant principles as they apply to aerospace systems.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Matlab, Python, or C++.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art solutions to current thermal/flow problems in aerospace applications.
• Proficiency in CFD and thermal analysis software such as ANSYS Fluent or COMSOL.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience with multiphase flow, reacting flow, and radiation thermal modeling in aerospace applications is desired.
• Experience with thermal testing and instrumentation is highly desired.
• Experience in FEA analysis software like Ansys Mechanical/ ABAQUS is preferred.

Education And Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in Thermal engineering and CFD, preferably in aerospace applications.
