In support of the Plan for Bucknell 2025 and the University mission, Bucknell University is seeking to hire the founding Andrew Hartman '71 & Joseph Fama '71 Executive Director of the Center for Access & Success whose role will report directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM), the Executive Director will oversee all functions in the Center, ensuring equitable access to and delivery of high-quality student and family/communities of support programming. The Executive Director will oversee a student centered, assets-informed approach to retention, graduation, and success efforts that serve all Center students. The Executive Director will successfully liaise with the offices of Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Equity & Inclusive Excellence to collaborate on and expand existing programming for historically underrepresented students at Bucknell.

Bucknell University's Center for Access & Success provides a cohesive system of support and high-touch mentoring for students entering Bucknell through one of its signature or national access scholarship programs. The Center will elevate and support students in the
following cohort programs:

The Bauer Scholars: The Charles T. Bauer Scholars Program is an endowed scholarship program that offers need-based Bucknell University scholarships to highly qualified students from Baltimore City or Baltimore County, Maryland.

Posse: Bucknell partners with the Posse Foundation to identify high-achieving students with leadership potential. Each year, Bucknell enrolls 30 Posse Scholars from three partner cities.

The Gateway Scholars: Bucknell's newest signature pathway program seeks to enroll 20 high-achieving first-generation college students annually. Students must demonstrate financial need to be considered and will have their full need met without loans.

The Langone/Langone-Walling Scholars: The Langone and Langone/Walling Scholarship is awarded to 10-11 students annually. Students are selected based on evaluation of their service to school, family or community and/or having to overcome difficult circumstances in achieving their education.

Bucknell Community College Scholars Program: High-achieving, low-to-moderate income community college students apply for admission to the University after completing a six-week summer program. The summer program typically enrolls 15-20 students. Scholars receive a full-tuition award.

Job Duties:
Strategy and Leadership
Responsible for providing overall strategy for Center operations. With guidance from the VPEM, provides clear direction for the Center. Oversees effective management of all activities and
program operations in the Center including personnel, daily operations and administrative functions. Develops and executes assessment strategy. Serves as Main Point of
Contact (MPOC) for Bucknell's partnership with American Talent Initiative (ATI).
Recommends, creates, and implements long and short-term strategic plan goals and operational plans for the Center aligned with proven best-practices
Spearheads efforts to improve retention and completion.
Leads by addressing difficult issues. Supports and moves new initiatives forward.
Facilitates an environment that motivates, empowers, and inspires commitment from employees and does so while advancing a culture of care.
Demonstrates commitment to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Creates an environment in which employees are recognized for their accomplishments and contributions to the success of the team.
Understands the University's mission and vision and how the Center's work, activities, and goals support the mission.
Hires, supervises, and evaluates Center staff.
Designs professional development for Center staff.
Develops and monitors annual budget for the Center.
Actively contribute to Bucknell's efforts to foster a diverse and inclusive campus community through intercultural competence.
Support and promote the University's DEI and sustainability efforts to protect, maintain, and increase the long-term viability and resilience of the University's employees, environmental,
social, and economic support systems.
Fundraising
Coordinates with University Advancement Strategic Philanthropy on the development of philanthropic initiatives to support the Center; coordinates with Director of Stewardship
and Donor Relations in the creation of stewardship strategies for Center donors; coordinates with Associate Director of Development, Strategic Philanthropy Programs:
Corporate, Foundation & Government Relations to seek external grants opportunities to support the Center and its students.
Guiding Center Processes
Supervises Center staff in the holistic advisement of potential and current students.
Provides supervision for Director of Access & Success Student Experiences and an administrative assistant
Acts to collaborate with colleagues across campus to improve policies and administrative processes that are student-centered and support student success.
Serves as an expert collaborator, who is a champion for assets-forward approaches to student success.
In collaboration with various student-serving partners, ensures efficient, effective, and equitable referrals of students to support services.
Tracks and shares scholarship and grant opportunities in support of students' educational experience.
Evidence-informed Decision Making and Partnerships
Reviews data, communicates findings to stakeholders, and works with specialists in the development and delivery of student supports.
Coordinates programming with Multicultural Student Services
Effectively liaises with GenFirst!@Bucknell
Develops transition support to help new students develop a sense of belonging within the university community
Builds effective strategic alliances internally and externally
Serves as the lead liaison between the Center and campus-wide, student-facing and student-serving departments.
Provides regular communication to campus partners.
Develops annual report of Center activities and accomplishments.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
5-7 years of leadership experience in advising, student mentoring and/or student success positions.
Demonstrated experience leading and/or supervising staff in inclusive, diverse organizations
Demonstrated management skills that will serve the incumbent in supervising and motivating staff to work effectively and cooperatively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students
Demonstrated consultative decision-making and problem-solving skills
Record of assets-informed advising and mentoring of students, especially first generation, minoritized students
Experience with tracking and assessing retention and graduation data (especially through the effective use of technology and institutional research)
Record of successfully implementing evidence-informed approaches to student outreach, advisement, and retention in a higher education setting

Preferred Qualifications:
A Doctorate/terminal degree from an accredited college or university in higher education leadership, policy, administration or related field
Demonstrated experience providing mentoring, professional growth and/or professional development opportunities for staff
Demonstrated record of implementing student success and/or student recruitment and outreach efforts that improved outcomes for historically underrepresented students
Record of successful grant writing to support student success

Work Type:
This is full-time, year round, benefits eligible position.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.

Salary Range:
This is a Staff Exempt position with a hiring range of $77,900 to $97,375. The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
