Job description

Participates fully in providing library services to patrons in the fast-paced environment of the school library and provides clerical and technical support as needed. Presents a welcoming demeanor and relates well to staff and students.

Provides assistance to the librarian as needed, including:
Developing materials and reports for lessons and special programs (typing, copying, laminating, etc.)
Preparing reports and maintaining data recordsStaging the library for multimedia presentations or special eventsOrdering materials and library suppliesAssisting with book fairs and other fundraisersWeeding and inventory preparationPulling books for classroom useProviding circulation and other data collection and entry support as neededProvides coverage and supervision for the library when the librarian is teachingPerforms related library work to support the librarian(s)Manages students coming and going from the library
Assists teachers, students, and other groups using the library
Maintains a working knowledge of the content of print and non-print resources and recommends appropriate choices to students and teachers
Manages reserves and interlibrary loans including requesting, sending, and tracking materials
Maintains spreadsheets/databases as needed (includes Inter Library Loans, Equipment, Literacy Program information, financial tracking)
Maintains records of lost or damaged books
Provides mobile checkouts when needed
Assists in the creation of displays
Provides support for makerspace scheduling, usage, and maintenance, when applicable
Ensures that materials are shelved and straightened daily
Assists with other library materials for special projects/programs such as book celebrations, book clubs, all school reads, etc.
Assists in implementing the division Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) as it relates to student use of the Internet and electronic resources
Prepares and processes new materials for shelving and circulation (includes sending items to be cataloged, creating spine labels, applying appropriate stamps and labels, covering books, checking for items on the online circulation system)
Repairs worn or damaged items (includes fixing spines, covers, loose pages, etc.)
Maintains patrons’ library cards (includes making cards, sending cards to new schools, replacing lost cards)
Responds to all communications in a timely manner to include digital, analog, print, and oral communication
Ability and desire to learn new technologies and media
Attends work daily and is engaged in job responsibilities
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Must possess strong communications skills and be able to follow directions. Is able to use computers(with training) in a broad range of applications such as but not limited to the following: Online Circulation System (SIRSI), Google Apps for Education (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides, etc.), Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet Search Engines, Database navigation and searching, Clever, PowerSchool, and Schoology. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member. Is self-motivated/directed and able to multitask.
