Salary Grade: NC14 Salary Range: $47,959 - $83,928
This position serves as Technical Trainer II for the State Maintenance Operations Unit. The position is responsible for assisting in the design and delivery of the unit’s following training activities: On-the Job Training, Contract Inspection for TWs and TSI positions, Snow and Ice for Operators Refresher Course, the Transition to Leadership Course, Disaster project management and others. Additional responsibilities include Divisional training needs assessments and serving as a Unit Representative for the Transportation Academies. Maintains the departments Transportation Workers Training Program by coordinating with committee membership, fielding questions from the divisions and resolving course/technological issues that may arise and tempering the program to fit the needs of the department. Develops a training events calendar of contract inspection classes, snow and ice classes, transition to leadership classes, and disaster project management needed through Divisional assessments. Plans technical workshops by selecting and procuring host facilities, developing agendas and course work, develops and delivers, presentations, administrating any testing required, provides class rosters to Divisions. Works with unit, divisions, and the central units to identify training needs. Works with affected units to create, develop and implement identified training. Other duties as assigned.

Additional Expectations: Considerable knowledge of training principles and techniques, and of the capabilities and uses of audio and visual aids and other training tools and resources. May require thorough knowledge of a single work field such as concrete construction and maintenance or a working knowledge of a wide variety of technical or service work fields. May require an advanced skill in performing lab and field material tests, evaluation and problem solving. Ability to develop, organize, evaluate and administer training programs. Ability to effectively teach others, evaluate student learning and performance, maintain records and develop training materials.
Associate’s degree in engineering or industrial technology from an appropriately accredited institution, and six years of progressive experience in the work field(s) where the employees have responsibility for training or problem solving; or High school or General Educational Development diploma and six years of progressive experience in the work field(s) where the employees have responsibility for training or problem solving; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
